Dr. Chantal Bémeur is a registered dietitian and Full Professor in the Department of Nutrition at the Faculty of Medicine, Université de Montréal. After serving as Director of the Undergraduate Nutrition Program at the Faculty of Medicine for five years, she now holds the position of Vice-Dean for Health Sciences. Since 2012, Dr. Bémeur has also been a Principal Investigator and Co-Director of the HepatoNeuro Laboratory at the Centre de recherche du Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CRCHUM).
Dr. Bémeur specializes in nutrition as it relates to liver disease and its many complications. She has contributed to the development of clinical practice guidelines on nutrition and liver disease. She is also a member of a Canadian multidisciplinary team of experts that developed an evidence-based nutrition education guide in partnership with individuals living with chronic liver disease and their caregivers. As Co-Lead of the Restoring Long-Term Health theme within the Canadian Donation and Transplantation Research Program, Dr. Bémeur leads a national research initiative that brings together researchers, clinicians, patients living with chronic liver disease, and caregivers to develop a framework that promotes a holistic approach to healthy lifestyle management strategies.
