Dr. Fannie L. Trempe is a physician specializing in General Internal Medicine, obesity medicine, and cardiometabolic health at the Quebec Heart and Lung Institute, where she is actively involved in the bariatric medicine and specialized MASLD programs, as well as a dedicated clinic addressing cardiometabolic health among immigrants and refugees. She is an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy and a Clinical Professor at the Faculty of Medicine at Université Laval. Her research focuses on obesity-related cardiometabolic and liver disease, particularly MASLD, and on understanding how environmental, social, and population-specific factors influence cardiometabolic health in underserved and underrepresented communities, including immigrant and Indigenous populations. Through national and international collaborations, she aims to improve the prevention and management of obesity-related diseases while strengthening research capacity and representation across diverse populations.
