Vida is a first year PhD student at Concordia University in the department of Health, Kinesiology, and Applied Physiology. She has 7 years of research experience in weight bias, stigma, and discrimination, specifically within the contexts of adult and paediatric obesity. Her master’s thesis project focused on exploring the relationships between weight bias and health behaviours including physical activity and sedentary behaviour among the Canadian general population. She has additional experience working with teenagers living with severe obesity at the Center of Excellence in Adolescent Severe Obesity at the Montreal General Hospital. Vida’s current research focuses on understanding how school environments may contribute to risk or provide protective factors for the health and wellbeing of children and youth living with obesity, as well as how larger systems, including the healthcare system, can improve implementation of recent advances in clinical paediatric obesity management to better promote more equitable, patient-centred care.
